Living habits
It lives in evergreen broad-leaved forest. The adults lay their eggs in rotten sawdust soil. It is oval and milky white. The newly hatched larvae have light yellow head, white chest and abdomen, and bend into type C.
The species was once said to be extinct, but on September 27, 2011, Lin Sen, head of Shangrao wildlife protection station, replied to the reporter that the captured crustacean insects were indeed the national second-class protected animal Yangcai arm golden turtle, which was found for the first time in Shangrao after being identified by experts from the provincial forestry pest prevention and Quarantine Bureau.
Wild population
China: according to Wang Minjun, China announced the extinction of Yangcai arm golden turtle in 1982, but it has been found in Guizhou, Chongqing, Jiangxi and other places in recent years.
On September 2, 2004, it was reported that the field scientific research team of Jiangxi Province found the national Yangcai arm golden turtle population in Guanshan Nature Reserve, and successfully obtained 23 Yangcai arm golden turtle eggs and 2 newly hatched larvae.
According to a report in July 2010, researchers accidentally found a Yangcai arm golden turtle in Daiyunshan National Nature Reserve, Fujian Province.
On July 28, 2011, Yangcai arm golden Turtle was found for the first time in Jiulianshan Nature Reserve, Jiangxi Province.
On August 8, 2011, it was reported that a Yangcai arm golden Turtle was found in Leigongshan National Nature Reserve, Guizhou.
On September 5, 2015, it was reported that a 6.5cm long golden turtle with about 12cm Yangcai arms was found in a construction site in Dongxing village, Geling Town, Yongtai.
On September 7, 2015, it was reported that Yu Weiwei and Wang Jin, employees of Hetian substation in Wuyuan workshop, Wuyuan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, found a Yangcai arm golden turtle with a length of 7cm, a width of 4cm and a length of 16cm. It has been determined and verified by Shangrao forestry Bureau.
On September 11, 2015, it was reported that a golden turtle with colorful arms was found at the door of a shop in Mabian County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. According to the relevant person in charge of Mabian County Forestry Bureau, it has been identified and verified by experts of the Chinese Academy of forestry.
Classification features

Discovery case
In September 2015, Mr. Li in Fuzhou found a huge beetle in the construction site, with a body length of 6.5cm and a whole body of about 12cm. From the photo, the beetle is oval, with a bright golden green head, dark copper green forelegs and Coleoptera, and long forelegs. Confirmed by the person in charge of Fuzhou Pest Control Association, the beetle in the picture is a Yangcai arm golden turtle.
In September 2015, an unknown giant beetle was found by the citizens of Leshan, Sichuan. After identification by forestry experts, the beetle was confirmed to be a Yangcai arm golden turtle.

On August 28, 2021, it was learned from the Publicity Department of Guizhou Yinjiang Autonomous County Party committee that the Yangxi Provincial Nature Reserve of the county first found the national secondary protected animal – Yangcai arm golden turtle. This species was declared extinct in 1982, but its trace was found in recent years.
Protection level
It is listed in class II of the list of wildlife under national key protection in China.
